Cantine Le Grotte - Puglia

Cantine Le Grotte is located in Apricena, a town in the very northern reaches of Puglia, an area affectionately known as the spur of the boot of Italy.  Their vineyards lie between the Adriatic Sea, the foothills of the Gargano National Park and the inland plateau of Foggia.  Pasquale Dell’Erba founded the winery; their first vintage was 2013.  Before even planting their first vines, though, they had to spend a year revitalizing and re-oxygenating the soil by digging up and then putting back in the same stony materials.  The Cantine is most proud of Puglia’s indigenous grape, par excellence, Nero di Troia.
